Our Wines "Alsace - Vendanges Tardives and Selections de Grains Nobles"

These exceptional wines are harvested in great maturity and can only be produced on great vintages. The "Selection de Grains Nobles" wines are obtained by successive sorting of grape-berries with Botrytis Cinerea (noble rot).

The latest "Vendanges Tardives" occurred in 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2017.

The latest "Selection de Grains Nobles" vintage were in 1997 and 2000.

Vendanges Tardives Grand Cru Kirchberg de Ribeauvillé Gewurztraminer

A.O.C Alsace Grand Cru (French quality wines)

Type: sweet white wine

Sweetness: 4 (scale from 1 = dry to 5 = liquor-like).

Terroir : The vineyard is located in the Kirchberg Grand Cru Area. The soil is composed of marl-limestone and a little sandstone. South-east-south exposure.

Comment of the 2015 vintage: The nose is intense and fresh with lime peels aromas which is typical of the terroir, but also touches of spices and over-ripe exotic fruits. The palate is round with candied fruits flavours. The mouth-feel may be full-bodied, but it is also tense and fresh. The finish is long.

Food and wine pairing : preferably drunk between 10 and 12 ° C. Ideal with foie gras, which is a dish that we would recommend for the end of the meal rather than as a starter or appetiser. It will interact well with the strength of a blue cheese (Roquefort, Stilton, Gorgonzola) or may be perfect to end a meal  along with a chocolate dessert.

Best consumed: within 15 to 20 years.

Sélection de Grains Nobles Grand Cru Kirchberg de Ribauvillé Gewurztraminer

Type: sweet white wine

Sweetness: 4 (scale from 1 = dry to 5 = liquor-like).

Terroir : The vineyard is located in the Kirchberg Grand Cru Area. The soil is composed of marl-limestone and a little sandstone. South-east-south exposure.

Comment for the 2015 vintage: The nose is vivid with aromas of dried herbs and herbal teas, typical of this vintage. The mouth is strong and rich, giving a glimpse of over-maturation aromas (reminding of raisins) due to Botrytis Cinerea.

Food and wine pairing : preferably drunk between 10 and 12°C. This nectar is best enjoyed on its own.

Best consumed: 20 years and over, depending on storing conditions.
